Under normal conditions, the menstrual cycle comes once every 28 days. The duration of menstrual cycle is from 4 to 7 days. The average menstrual blood volume is about 30 to 70 ml. If the menstrual blood volume exceeds 90 ml, it is called “menorrhagia”. If the interval of menstrual cycle is less than 21 days, it is called “polymenorrhea”. By contrast, if the interval between two menstrual cycles is greater than 45 days, it is called “oligomenorrhea”.

If there is menorrhagia, hypomenorrhea, polymenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, and even the cycle is irregular, it is called irregular menstruation. Irregular menstruation is a phenomenon caused by abnormal hormone secretion in the body, which lead to abnormal ovulation, and therefore difficult to conceive.
