What exactly is azoospermia?

Ms. Wang (36 years old) and her husband had not been pregnant for 6 years. After examination, it turned out that her husband had "azoospermia".

After seeking a doctor everywhere for a long time, they are introduced to Lee Women’s Hospital by a friend, and received hormonal treatment under the advices of the medical team. Finally, they have a cute baby girl in the later year after a hard work!

So, what exactly is azoospermia?
A normal male ejaculates about 2 to 5 cc of semen at one time. The semen is composed of sperm and seminal fluid (water, fat, protein particles, etc.). When the "ejaculation" does not contain any sperm, it is called azoospermia.

Causes of azoospermia
The following symptoms may cause azoospermia in men:
  1. Testicles cannot make sperm.
  2. The seminal duct is blocked (congenital absence of the vas deferens, acquired seminal duct obstruction in epididymis).
  3. Hormone disorders in hypothalamus or pituitary.
  4. Retrograde ejaculation

According to the cause of azoospermia in each person, the doctor will take different treatments. The patient still has the opportunity to have his own child!

After confirming pregnancy, Lee Women’s Hospital will freeze the left sperms from the husband for the second and third babies. Congratulations, they have their own baby~
