Methods:Pre-implantation embryos were diagnosed withsingle cell polymerase chain reaction.

RESULTS:Of the 19 patients receiving embryo transfer, 9 had successful pregnancy. Among them, 7 delivered healthy babies, the other two patients had to terminate their pregnancy.

Conclusion:Thalassemia carriers may benefit from pre-implantation diagnosis.
