According to the Assisted Reproductive Technology Summary 2021 National Report of Taiwan, Lee Women's Hospital had accomplished 5,283 IVF treatment cycles within a year!

Lee Women's Hospital carried out 11% of IVF treatment cycles for the entire nation. Also, the pregnancy rate at our hospital has topped the nation for the sixth year in a row.

In 2021, Lee Women's Hospital completed 5,283 treatment cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Across the 92 artificial reproductive technology (ART) intuitions in Taiwan, a total of 49,652 IVF treatment cycles were carried out, with Lee Women's Hospital accounting for 11% of the total. According to statistics from the Health Promotion Administration (HPA), the pregnancy rate for individuals undergoing IVF across Taiwan is 22.5%, and the live birth rate per treatment cycle is 16.6%. Over the past two years, Lee Women's Hospital has supported 1,585 families in welcoming the birth of their babies, achieving an impressive pregnancy rate exceeding 60%.

What's the meaning of "treatment cycles" in IVF?

According to HPA, when a case begins using ovulation-inducing drugs or undergoes examinations for embryo implantation, it marks the start of a treatment cycle. Since the IVF procedure may extend for two weeks or more and involve multiple steps, the HPA uses "cycle" as the unit of calculation.

Unlike other ART institutions relying on external systems with databases mainly from Europe and the USA, Lee Women's Hospital values the origins of data. With almost 40 years of clinical experience, our hospital has amassed a database of over 35,000 successful IVF cases and 100 million embryo images. With this extensive data imported into our AI embryo selection system, Lee Women's Hospital has established a Taiwanese-centric embryo database, aligning closely with the reproductive needs of Taiwan. Our efforts received high praise at the 2021 European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) conference.

Moreover, the efficiency of our AI embryo selection is highlighted. With the most numerous database on IVF cases in Taiwan, Lee Women's Hospital can finish the evaluation of candidate embryos for over 2,000 women within a few seconds.

The Government Expands IVF Subsidy Program, and Lee Women's Hospital Streamlines the Application Process

Since July 2021, the HPA has launched an expanded subsidy program for IVF. Providing robust support for infertile couples, Lee Women's Hospital also actively participates in this initiative. According to statistics, over 4,000 infertile women applied for IVF subsidies at our hospital, with a remarkable success rate of over 60%, accounting for 1,585 successful pregnancies. Nowadays, qualifying for IVF subsidies is rather simple for those who meet the three requirements listed below:

1. Either spouse must be a citizen of the ROC.
2. The female partner must be under 45 years old.
3. The couple must have an infertility diagnosis from a doctor.
